This book was fabulous! The protagonist is a girl who has to fight the illness
plus take care of her family's tavern. She holds it all together. The novel
does a great job of painting a picture of how the disease effected the town. My
students completed diorammas and murals of what they "saw" in the novels.

and I was wondering if
any of you have some good suggestions. I'm a little nervous because I had to
get special permission to use this novel instead of the novel mandated by the
district. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks ,Patty
