Make a checkbox grid of the options you give them. Have it as a warm-up. They must date the paper, put their names on it, and check the item they are working on that day along with the process stage they are in.
Make it their job, not yours. Have them hold the sheets in the air to collect them. Set a timer, so that it all is done in the first five minutes of class. If they don't make the timer, hold them for one minute of the passing period.
