The picture books of Chris Van Allsburg really lend themselves to middle
school thinking . . . each one is unique . . . and goes beyond the literal to
so
many interpretations! Each one could be interpreted/analyzed in a variety
of ways. For example, Jumanji could develop into a small group project of
developing a unique board game. The Mysteries of Harris Burdick could become
a
class book . . . each page developing into a separate interpretation of each
page in the book.
