Hi! National Poetry Month (in the U.S. anyway) is fast approaching, and with it the annual online poetry slam. Keith is waiting for one last piece of information from me to put together the registration page. In the meantime, if you're interested, please send me an email and I'll add you to the list.
For the many newcomers to our list since last year: the online poetry slam, which takes place in April, joins together approximately 12 classrooms from places as diverse as our listserve membership (meaning quite diverse!). Each class is assigned a blog, and begins by posting a general introduction. During the next approximately two weeks, students post poems they wish to share with the group. This is followed by a period of comments, with each school committing to help ensure every student-poet has his/her work commented upon. At the end, the entire experience (introductions, poems and comments) is archived for posterity. There is a modest entry fee to help defray Keith's time and expenses. It is a ton of fun, and I highly encourage anyone thinking of joining to send me (privately) an email). Last year, it filled up quite quickly, so the sooner you respond, the better. See you online!
