In our sixth grade, we read five classroom novels each year. (We expect the books to be read at home, but we assign homework from them and discuss them during class.) In addition, we assign between 2 and 4 book reports during the year.
Some of our parents feel that we are not assigning enough reading, and other parents feel the amount of reading is too much for their child. Since we have heterogeneous classes, it's difficult to please everyone.
