Sarah,
I've used Fletcher's Teaching the Qualities of Writing in sixth grade for
the past two years. I haven't found it too elementary. Students' writing
improved greatly. The lessons are quite teacher friendly, short
(mini-lesson length), to the point, and have anchor text.

It lacked lessons on constructed response and controversial issue, the two
tested genres. However, for getting students excited about writing and
revising, I haven't found a more complete resource.
