I teach in a K-8 building, but we have a "separate" middle school.  We just 
split the two, so instead of Language Arts, we now have Reading Exploration and 
Writing Strategies.  In Kansas we have to cover the 4 text types and writing 
types, so it seemed to fit.  We are teaching them to explore the types of 
reading and write for different purposes.  

Happy assessment time of the year to all!  Our window opened Feb. 19!
