I'll echo that "be careful what you wish for" idea. We have a
wonderful math coach for our three middle schools, who helps not only
the math teachers, but other content area teachers for integrating and
reinforcing math skills. Then, all of a sudden we were told that
department chairs would no longer be paid other than math, language
arts, counseling and special ed. (although departments are still
expected to have meetings, there are many tasks to do, etc.) Then we
were told it was because WE wanted a language arts coach to replicate
the wonderful things the math coach was doing, and they were going to
take all the dept. chair $$ to pay the salary. Then they had to beg
somebody to take the LA coach job. I can't find a single person who
said they wanted to eliminate dept. chairs in exchange for an LA coach.

Also, when replying to a post, especially in digest mode, could you
please trim all but the relevant points? Some of the digests I've
received lately have gone on and on, often repeating the same
information many, many times.

Susie
