As we know, peer models are great inspirations in teaching. Recently I found
a good example of this.

Nancy Yi Fan, the 14-year-old New York Times bestselling author of
SWORDBIRD, could be the best role model to inspire your students or kids to
love reading and writing. Nancy has recently published her second book,
SWORD QUEST, a prequel to SWORDBIRD. Once again Nancy creates a richly
imagined bird world full of fanciful characters, adventure and intrigue.

You may be interested in learning more about how Nancy wrote her two books
and what inspired her to write. Here is her website's link:

A reading group guide about Nancy's books can be found at

Your students will love the idea of using Nancy's books!
