Oh, yes, we also use Boy of the Painted Caves by Justen Denzel for a summer reading assignment.
We also read a beautifully illustrated picture book about a girl who becomes a cave painter, by Kathryn Lasky. I'd like to correlate my read aloud novels with the current study occurring in Soc. St. Has anyone read an historical fiction book themselves or to their students that is set anytime between paleolithic through the 16th century? Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.
