Nancy Steineke in her book REading & Writing Together has a reading log that
has to be signed by a parent stating that the student has discussed the book
with him/her. I love it. They get to read a book of their choice, but have to
stay with one book. It's a great way to give homework credit. Some parents have
said it's the only time their sons have talked to them about school.
