Hi Tena,

How are you? It's been a long time since I've posted. I've been dealing with
some personal/professional issues. My professional life has gone through
many changes since we met at Bowdoin. Our district is a mess right now and
they are moving teachers around like pieces on a chess board, very
distressing to say the least.

In the past 5 years I have gone from Staff Developer, to LA 7th and 8th
grade, Remedial Reading, Social Development/Remedial Reading, Read 180
Teacher. After facing a potential new move to sixth grade last year, I
decided to transfer out of my building which was very difficult for me as I
had invested much time and energy in it's formation and development. But,
sometimes change is the only way so I transferred to a new school which was
a total disaster. Fortunately, I was able to find a new position in another
school which is a bit better. The distressing fact is that urban education
is a mess and getting worse. Let's hope that our new leader, Obama, can help
make some positive changes before I retire.

I hope all is well with you in Maine. Would you share your templates with me
as I would like to share them with my new 7-8 grade team? I am the currently
the Read 180 teacher on the team working with way too many students. One
thing at a time though. Right now I am enjoying the fact that I was able to
remove myself from a toxic situation and into a more balanced situation.

Bill, I have some great templates that I created for various levels of
writers involving literary analysis. Of course there are at school and I am
on Feb break ( 20+ hours at the darn pharmacy though!) I am going in to
school one day this week to get some work done and I will send them your way
to peruse
