Hi!

As we approach the New Year, I am proposing we take a moment to share our
goals and/or resolutions for 2010. My own are:

1. Keep working on that ever-elusive balance between family, teaching,
exercise, and sleep.

2. Interact more frequently and more helpfully with my students on a
one-to-one basis, especially with their writing.

3. Rethink from the ground up how best to promote love of reading among my
students with whatever sort of assessment makes sense.

4. Try to keep up with cutting edge thinking and figure out what can/should
be applied right away to my teaching and what has to be stowed away for use
"later."

5. Try to be brutally honest with myself about what is working and what
needs fixing up, including other people's voices in the process.

6. Assume good intentions.

7. Work for social justice in a way that respects a diversity of beliefs.

8. Work for a very successful 2010 Online Poetry Slam!

9. Try to be true to myself.

Take care,

Bill Ivey
