254.246.96.138 is in the range of the "Class E Network -- binary addresses start with 1111, therefore the decimal number can be anywhere from 240 to 255. Class E networks are used for experimentation. They have never been documented or utilized in a standard way." See http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Internet/2002/IPaddressing.asphttp://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Internet/2002/IPaddressing.asp

I'd be curious to know why your G5 is using the 'experimental' range. That may also explain why LittleSnitch is complaining since it's probably looking for addresses in the ranges of 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255, 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 or 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (private address ranges).

I've been demoing LittleSnitch on my laptop (G4 12"), and whenever I
try to connect to my G5 to mount drives remotely, it says "Finder wants
to connect to 254.246.96.138".
