I'm finding my way around assigning existing rules to a new release of an application. It's more tedious than the corresponding KeyChain updating, but it seems to work. A key aspect is reassigning rules before being tempted into assigning any rules to the new application.

However, I've found a limitation of the GUI approach to choosing the new location of an application. The standard OS X Open dialog does not allow one to look inside an application package for a hidden sub-application.

Little Snitch shows the path to the hidden application below the list of rules. If only it let me manually edit the path (to change the release number), I'd be all set. In fact, manually editing the path would often be faster than using the Open dialog, e.g., select "v4" and change it to "v5".
