Howdy Joe,

Folks,

I use Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to make a copy of my boot disk on a FireWire drive.
When I change the startup volume and restart I'm prompted by LS that a configuration has changed and do I want to go with it (default) or load the original.

I get a similar but more pointed dialogue when I boot from a dub created by SuperDuper.
LS tells me that something has played with the configuration and I should investigate.
This makes me very happy to know that the watcher is watching even itself :-)
So

1. Is there any way to sidestep this question when I switch boot partitions?

I wouldn't want to turn any LS warnings off - it might not be your dubbing app which changes LS in another instance.

2. What would happen if i said go with the original?

Any change would be relative to the way your cloner copies configuration files. So I am guessing that it would be a case by case result - and in the case of cloning probably trivial.
