I have found the developers to be extremely responsive and concerned.
And I wonder how I would react if I developed a piece of software,
then found other folks trying to expand the functionality and then
bitching because it doesn't work as expected.
We are not "bitching" because we want expended possibilities, we are
discussing about security.
For all of you wonks out there that just *have* to have terminal
access, get a life. Or write your own. It's just very trying to
watch all this squabbling and worse, the general attitude towards
the developers.
As for the general attitude of the developers, I can only speak from
what I've read concerning these two issues on the mailinglist, but it
was far from being responsive.
Lay off. Write your own. Or use the GUI. Would it kill you?
That's exactly what we (I) did, and it works beautifully and that's
actually the problem, it works too well.
I would not want terminal access if I could use the GUI. I think you
missed the point. Some of us access our home machine via ssh
(terminal only) and thus cannot control the firewall remotely, which
is a problem.
Let the flames begin. Because the same folks bitching are the same
folks gonna flame me. Hand in hand.
We are not trying to flame (bitch with no proof or anything to back
what you bring up) we've brought a multitude of proofs to what we
advance.
But if you are interested in demonstrating your point, I would be
more than glad to listen to you. What makes you think that the
developers are responsive? Any past experience to bring up front? Why
should people who use/need CLI access be left out? Why do you
consider out discussion "flaming" or "bitching" as you say?
Overall I believe you are only bringing your own feeling on this
thing, which is not exactly very helpful to anyone as we are looking
for facts and for that I'll call you a demagogue.
