perhaps edit prefs.js and hardcode
user_pref("network.online", true);
or do the same manually in about:config (search for it then double click
on it)
?
does that lock it 'on' permanently?
I am surprised that firefox would not understand the implications of
"localhost". shrug.
(note attempt to set homepage using prefs.js in install_main_docs.sh,
but I'm not sure that actually succeeds [& wasn't set after])
