fyi, with the Debian live-helper method it is now possible to create a
single hybrid ISO which can be either burned to a DVD or dd'ed directly
to the USB drive*. no need to use the "Make Startup Disk" app.

I don't know if this means you can get away from formatting as fat32
(highly inefficient on >gb partitions), or if that stems from a
limitation of common BIOSes.

ps- re. USB install instructions: "USB" is a bus not a destination, so
please use "USB drive" or similar, not just "USB", as the latter has many
potential meanings.
