Great to hear the interest.
I've moved our main documentation directories (overview, quickstarts and
standards) into trunk/docs/en/ and I've updated bin/install_main_docs.sh
to build docs in this directory into /usr/local/share/osgeolive-docs/en
on the OSGeo-Live directory.
This doesn't (shouldn't) effect the existing built document structure,
which I suggest we keep in place until we a stable alternative in place.
This should be enough to get translators working, while we tweak build
scripts.
Still to do:
* Covert index.html to en/index.rst
* ditto for sponsors.html, contact.html, download.html
* Set up sphinx build scripts for these files
* Encourage people to translate these pages too.
* Set icons on the docs to switch between languages
* Write a wiki on how to go through the translation process

So far we have German and Japanese volunteers at the conference for Friday.
One thing that would really help is to set up the project directory structure
for de and jp prior to the code sprint so we can just get going.
I will stop in at the code sprint but expect I will mostly be hanging with the
Java crowd.
Thanks to everyone who attended the presentation.

OSGeo Discuss,
We have been getting early interest in a desire to translate the excellent
marketing material projects have created into different languages.
As we start to kick off such a translation effort, I'm interested to gauge how
many people would be interested in such a translation effort, what languages we
should cover, how much documentation we should translate, and hear suggestions
on what tools or documentation structure we should use.
Potentially of interest for translation is:
A 25 minute presentation, slides and script here:
https://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/livedvd/promo/en/presentations/OSGeoLive4_0Taster/
available as a video here:
http://cameronshorter.blip.tv/file/4078371/
1 page descriptions of 42 projects.
http://live.osgeo.org/overview/overview.html
Main website pages.
Possibly Quickstarts and OGC Standards, although my gut feeling is that these
should wait for the next release cycle.
Please let me know if you are interested in helping, and add your name to the
translators page here:

If you are at FOSS4G, note that there will be a Birds of a Feather discussion
on Translating on Friday.
