Hi All,

Possibly set up a ppa, or add to the one already done

create an osgeo ppa, or add to this one https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGIS which
points to https://launchpad.net/~ubuntugis/+archive/ppa/, look at
section"Technical details about this PPA "

Once you have created or added to the ppa, you can install an Ubuntu server,
then add this ppa, and install from this

take note that QGIS has their own ppa, look at
http://www.qgis.org/wiki/Download under heading Ubuntu

Other projects have already got ppa's also ( like Geopublisher and AtlasStyler
http://en.geopublishing.org/Download which is this for lucid deb
http://de.geopublishing.org/repository lucid main )

Also, create a DVD/s from this ppa, for off line installation

Hope this helps
William

Johan is right, the best option for projects is to have them move their
applications into debian/ubuntu. (We can create a metaproject,
osgeolive, which installs all osgeolive applications).

The downside to this, which is why only some projects use .deb files is
that we don't have enough people prepared to put in the extra effort
required to create .deb files.

In particular, creating java and tomcat .deb files has been difficult in
the past, although I suspect that this has improved over the last few
ubuntu distributions.
