Jon, great to hear that you are interested to include ncWMS on OSGeo-Live.

What I suggest you do is join the OSGeo-Live email list, and officially note your interest (so other developers can comment on whether we include ncWMS or not).

The key criteria will be that the application is stable and fills a niche, and that you have all your docs and packaging ready on time.

High level answers to most of your questions are in our last press release here: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Live_GIS_Disc_Press_Release_11

running to work, will touch base later. ...

Hi Cameron,

<snip>
I'd be very interested in including ncWMS on the OSGeo-Live DVD. We'll be
releasing full version 1.0 soon, so this could be a good opportunity to
distribute it. Note that it's a Java application, dependent upon Java 1.6.
When would you need the software by?

I guess I'd need to supply some example NetCDF datasets, unless the Natural
Earth datasets can come in NetCDF format?

And speaking of NetCDF, do you happen to know if the GDAL and Mapserver distros
on the Live DVD are compiled with NetCDF support? I'd doubt it, but it would
be very handy for our community if they did. I've been having a heck of a time
trying to compile GDAL, NetCDF and MapServer on some Linux versions. It would
be great if this facility could be available out of the box on the DVD for
experimentation.

Cheers, Jon

Sure,
Feel free to ping me next time we are on skype at the same time
(probably either end of the day).

One thing you may be interested in is including pywms on the OSGeo-Live
DVD [1], which is handed out at geospatial conferences around the world.

We are just about to start the next release cycle, which will be
released in March. [2]

Hi Cameron,

No, I'm not coming to the TC meeting I'm afraid. (I'm trying to figure out how
I can manage a visit to Australia sometime to see a few people but it's not
easy!)

Would have been great to meet up - but perhaps we could have a phone/Skype chat
sometime if you like?

Cheers, Jon

Hi Jonathan,
Rumour has it that you might be coming to Sydney for the OGC technical
committee meeting next week?
http://www.opengeospatial.org/event/1011tc

If so, I hope to be able to meet up with you while you are here?

I understand that we have both been helping the Australian METOC office
and Australian BOM?
