Hi,
I managed to find the issue, it is permissions in the webapps directory.
I will create a fix, test it and let you know about the results.

Hmm,
this is a problem. I don't see any errors in the logs. It seems as if
everything booted correctly. As for the JSP error, thats not an actual
error, but information from the Jetty container saying that it will
not support JSP files. This is not a problem since Geomajas does not
use any JSP files.
See here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Jetty/FAQ#JSP_support_not_configured.3F
So...I'm downloading the LiveDvd right now. I'll try and boot it up
later (download takes a while).
I was also thinking... the first time I installed Geomajas on the
LiveDVD there a simple timing issue that made it seem as if Geomajas
was not correctly installed. It started FireFox while Geomajas was
still starting up, and so gave an error message. Have you tried
waiting a bit longer and than visiting the URL in firefox?

Hi Pieter,
The problem is on startup. I am sending you the startup log. There
is a message about "No JSP support for /showcase".
GeoMajas seems to install, there are startup links on the desktop.
When we do a build, we start almost from scratch, we just have a
preinstalled Xubuntu virtual machine ready with updates.
The installation logs are here:
http://osprey.ucdavis.edu/downloads/osgeo/gisvm/latest/4.5beta3-log.tar.gz
The virtual machine is here:
http://osprey.ucdavis.edu/downloads/osgeo/gisvm/latest/OSGeoLive-v4.5beta3.7z
or mirrored here:

Thanks for your help,
Regards,
Angelos

I'm sorry I haven't been in touch the last couple of days. I've
been working behind a pretty secure firewall, and can't event SSH
to the outside world...
Where exactly does it go wrong? Is Geomajas downloaded
successfully? Is it a problem during startup?
If it is a problem during startup, could you send me the Tomcat logs?
Also, when you guys do a build, do you always start from scratch?
I noticed that in the install script it checks whether or not
Geomajas has already been downloaded, but I recently had to make
a change to the download package, so perhaps the new one wasn't
used...
PS: Is there still that virtualbox url somewhere so I can see for
myself?

Hi Peter,
It seems that GeoMajas does not work in version 4.5 beta3:

Can you please advise?

Update:
There was indeed a problem starting the Jetty web
container. This should be solved now.

Geomajas Team Representatives -
testing the build on the latest LiveDVD, I ran
into a number of permission problems with the
install, as I understand it..
Although i checked in several small changes to
the install script, I still see the following error
$ /usr/lib/geomajas-1.8.0-bin/bin/startup.sh
...
INFO::NO JSP Support for /Showcase, did not find
org.apache.lasper.servlet.JspServlet
and an error is shown when browsing to
localhost:3420/showcase/
please confirm this as soon as possible, thanks
