Hi Cameron,
of course you can cc the osgeolive email list with this thread.

All assistance is welcomed and we'll start our install script development after the holidays. We have used Ansible as our configuration management tool and a sample playbook can be found here https://github.com/nls-oskari/oskari-vagrant/blob/alpo/provisioning/site.yml The ALPO setup includes a development environment, which is unnecessary in this case. A minified version of the JS codes and war or standalone version of the Java backend would be enough for OSGeo-live. The sample data is our biggest worry and how to add Oskari specific tables to PostgreSQL and workspace into GeoServer. All advice how to integrate nicely are appreciated.

Best regards,
Mikael

Some of our technical people would like to comment on this thread.

    Hi Mikael,
Great to hear your intent re OSGeo-Live.

Yes, I do very much understand how much effort is required to get
all versions of different applications working together.
Hopefully OSGeo-Live can help in that regard.

I suggest using as much of the default OSGeo-Live versions as
possible as a base, including using the datasets bundled with
    OSGeo-Live.

If you need to install anything else, I suggest writing an
install script, following the default install script formats used
    by OSGeo-Live. [1]

You can then ask participants to run this script as the first
step of the workshop. It would be worth discussing this idea on
the osgeolive email list and get feedback. (Feel free to CC this
email to the list if you wish).

        Hi,
we are planning on using OSGeoLive as the basis for our workshop.
We are presenting Oskari.org, which uses PostgreSQL, PostGIS,
GeoServer, Geonetwork, Nginx, Jetty, Oracle JDK7, Redis,
        Graphicsmagick and Nodejs.
You can probably image the amount of effort it takes to get
everything working. Currently we are planning on using an
ansible script to install the necessary software, but if it
would be possible to include it in the distro, it would be
        awesome!

Perhaps we could work together to make it happen?

        Best regards,
        Mikael Blomberg

Hello FOSS4G Workshop presenters and organisors,

Our OSGeoLive team have started our build process for
OSGeoLive 8.0, due to be released at FOSS4G 2014.
If workshop presenters are considering making use of
OSGeoLive, then please do let us know.

            1. It is very motivating for our team to hear where
            osgeolive is being used.

            2. We are keen to understand if there are any requests
you have that we should consider for this release.

            3. We have a feature freeze scheduled [1] for 30 days
time, on 6 July 2014. I'm hoping this will provide
projects with sufficient time to incorporate features
they would like demonstrated in workshops? If not, please
            talk with us.
