First, someone would need to define, document, and begin
standardizing a RTP payload format for the Dirac codec. I don't
know whether anyone is working on that...
I spoke with David Flynn of the BBC and he said it's next on his ToDo
list, after he finished SMTPE vc2 (which should hopefully be finished
today). So that means that the first drafts of RTP Dirac encapsulation
format should be coming very soon now. It is of course already
possible to store Dirac in MPEG-TS and stream that using RTP. VLC
should play that.
