FYI, the latest version (2014.01.17) of the "LIVE555 Streaming Media" software now supports streaming (transmitting and receiving) H.265 RTP streams.
H.265 (also called "HEVC") is MPEG's next generation video codec, after H.264. (It gives comparable video quality to H.264, but with about half the bitrate.) H.265 transmission support has been added to the "testOnDemandRTSPServer" demo application, and to the "LIVE555 Media Server" (currently just the source-code; not the pre-built binary versions). There's also a new multicast demo application "testH265VideoStreamer" (similar to the existing "testH264VideoStreamer"), and a new "testH265VideoToTransportStream" demo application (similar to the existing "testH264VideoToTransportStream"). H.265 reception support has also been added to the "testRTSPClient" and "openRTSP" applications. And the "LIVE555 Proxy Server" now supports proxying of H.265 RTSP/RTP streams. (Google has developed a comparable-quality codec called "VP9" - which (unlike H.265) is likely to be made available royalty-free. We will also be supporting VP9 sometime in the future.)
