Los Angeles Times | October 10, 2008 | 1:08 p.m. PDT --- Stock market rebounds after huge early loss In another volatile day of trading, the Dow closed down about 100 points after plunging nearly 700 points and dipping below the 8,000 mark shortly after the opening bell. The market fluctuated wildly in the last hour of trading as investors looked for bargains after eight straight days of massive losses. - Oil prices dropped below $78 a barrel, sinking to the lowest level in nearly 13 months.
