Stocks Soar on Bargain Hunting and Rate-Cut Hopes
The Dow Jones industrials soared nearly 900 points as
investors anticipated a Federal Reserve rate cut and pushed
aside gloomy consumer confidence news. The Standard & Poor's
500-stock index was up more than 10 percent and the
technology-heavy Nasdaq rose more than 9 percent.
