Los Angeles Fire Department ordered mandatory evacuations of Sylmar
neighborhoods early Saturday morning.
-- Residents were to leave Pacoima Canyon all the way to Interstate 5
to the Highway 14 interchange. Residents were also ordered to evacuate
west of I-5, north of the 210 Freeway, north of Olive View Drive and
North of Gavina Street.
-- Two evacuation centers were established at Sylmar High School and
San Fernando High School. Residents with horses were told they could
bring them to the Hanson Dam Equestrian area. Fire officials said
evacuees with horses could also utilize the football fields at the
school evacuation centers.
-- The fire is moving west and jumped the 210 freeway at Foothill and
Cobalt.
