A man who barricaded himself inside a Northwest Side residence is dead,
police said.

Lisa Stigall, a spokeswoman for the Wheat Ridge, Colo., police
department, said investigators "have reason to believe" that the man
was Tyler James Martin, 36, a man who has been charged with
first-degree murder in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend Tuesday
night and was on the run from authorities.

Chicago police, however, have not confirmed that it is the same man who
was at the Kimball address, she said.

Hostage-barricade-terrorist incident team officers entered the
residence in the 2300 block of North Kimball Avenue at about 7:30 p.m.
and found a man dead of a gunshot wound, she said.

Officials found the green Mercury Mystique with a Colorado license
plate that they believe Martin was driving parked down the street from
the home, and the residence where the barricade occurred belongs to a
relative, Stigall said.
