Plan reached to reopen King-Harbor Medical Center
A tentative agreement has been reached to reopen the emergency room and
other inpatient services at Martin Luther King-Harbor Medical Center
near Watts by 2012, a move that would dramatically improve access to
care in one of the most underserved areas of the country, according to
state and county officials.
Inpatient services have been closed since August 2007 after federal
regulators determined that it failed to meet minimum standards for
patient care, including errors involved in multiple deaths.
