I've gone with the Isotherm for the same reason. Great unit and 
efficient. I was on a dock for two nights over 5 months during our trip 
from Ft. Lauderdale to Port Lavaca. I did not supplement the batteries 
with a gen set. the only charging was via my 4X 75 watt solar panes.
