One haulout several years ago we tried cayenne pepper and some tin based 
anti-fungal from the hardware store.  Unfortunately we didn't use a control 
patch.  But on haulout there didn't seem to be much difference from what we 
usually found.

Lately we just buy the most copper for the least dollars and re-coat one coat 
each year.

I saw the below in the news. I cannot help but wonder if these chilies work on 
controlling elephants, how well might they work when mixed in with bottom paint?
