I have a bunch of similar experience with satellites and dishes in the cable
TV business.
There should be little or no difference with either HD format or KA band.
But, If Direct TV uses satellites that are closer to another satellite than
before, that will make it more difficult. From earlier days of satellite
work: If it is a brand new satellite, it will have more power, they lose
power as they age. KA band may have higher allowed transmit power.
