Scary re that puddle. I hate to tell you the number of boats I've
seen SUNK AT THE DOCK because their interior plumbing sprung a leak,
filled the boat with fresh water and down she goes. Lucky you were
aboard when it evidenced itself.

I made it a habit of using only my interior water system and refill
the tanks as needed rather than having plumbed water into the boat. I
don't remember exactly the pressure of an open hose but I'll bet it
can and will overload the bilge pumps. An alternate could be to
buy one of those cheap little water limiters where you set the amount
of water to flow before the device shuts it self down. I doubt though
I would depend on a couple of pieces of plastic to stop the psi behind
it.
