I just looked it up.  From Tiger Point it is about 3 miles to the W/D 
and 3.5 to Publix and Food Lion.  From the municipal dock it's about 2 
miles to the W/D and 2.5 to the Publix and Food Lion.

3 miles is doable.  I thought it was farther than that.  I think Norm 
has the right idea, take a hike for your health and a cab back for your 
sanity and back.
