Hi ya Norm & All,

Now, now... Don't bet against the alcohol stoves.

I can't blame ya for your thinking, though, as I don't care for pressurized
alcohol stoves either. Sometimes they will leak if not maintained (or used)
properly.
The problem is making sure they are kept in
good shape and away from bubblehead users! LOL

Origo came out with a non-pressurized alcohol
stove and oven years ago. I have both the stove and oven and have used it
for almost three years now. It is fabulous.

Simple design: a canister filled with a wick-like
material is beneath the otherwise normal looking stove exterior. You turn
the knob, it rotates the
circular slide on the top of the canister. Light the burner. The slide
opens or closes the burner wick
as you select burner intensity, so settings on the knobs are very much like
any other stove or oven and are quite fascinatingly simple.

Nothing to spill, leak or flare-up. It is amazingly
simple and the oven runs HOT. I can fry chicken
and bake in the Origo oven in the same time I did in my land Viking
commerical oven.

Who'd a thunk it?

Hugs,

Charmaine

I'll bet it was an alcohol stove.
