I can't imagine anyone who was concerned about
bandwidth or downloading being on this particular
list. It's full of junk and gunk add on's that drive me
nuts too. It's downright messy and difficult to follow...
at least it is for me.

I haven't figured out an alternative yet... LOL.

Every person's email looks identical to me. If I
or someone else were using anything other than
plain text I haven't seen it. I'm sure it's there if
others have seen it. So I'll be sure that plain text
is applied, better safe than give someone sore
eyes.

Eric, glad someone knew how to help you enlarge
your text in Outlook.

When was it done? We were there in Nov (Thanksgiving) last year for 5 days
and then headed south.

Hello All,
Could we please return to PLAIN TEXT posting?
I can NOT read the tiny font of the recent posts, and Outlook Express will
not change the font size of them either.
I know it is a PITA but gee guys and gals I am legally blind and these posts
are all that is keeping me somewhat sane...

Norm,

Don't you draw like eight feet? We left Charlotte Harbor largely because
we found it difficult and we draw seven feet. Pelican Bay (26 41.135N,
82 14.508W)is not doable for draughts much greater than five feet. The
only thing at Pelcan Bay is Cayo Costa State Park which is very
beautiful but lacks facilities of any kind.

You would find a useful dink dock and parking in Punta Gorda at
Fisherman's Village (26 56.245N, 82 04.403W) but you would have to
anchor pretty far out and the anchorage is pretty exposed in
Northwesterly winds. You would not be able to access the fuel dock there
for water or diesel either. We bumped the bottom on approach at high
tide. I think the Punta Gorda PD and FWC might prove difficult if you
attempted an extended stay too.

Don't know what things are like more down towards Ft. Myers. My wife's
work drives where we stay and Ft. Myers didn't work for her.

Well Eric,

I can understund your frustration with some of the mail formats,
---- BUT ----
here is what your message looks like in Plain Text format, which is,
by the way, my default setting in Outlook Express.
You can enlarge received HTML messages in Outlook Express:
Select 'View/Text Size/Largest'.

Plain text without attachments is the format that this list and most other
lists
are based on. It also is a smaller size and takes less time to download for
those who are paying for time (which some people still do) or those who don
t
have high speed modems.

I don't use OE - don't know what Eric uses. There is really NO EXCUSE for
not
being considerate and using plain text. I also find the little paperclips on

the posts a pita also. I don't know why we have to have such a big signature

line for the group. It used to be about 3 lines.

Spoken like a true, no-nonsense grandma...
Us old hackers used to make fun of the AOL people with their 'pretty-print',

fostered upon us by MS (I remember gettiing a message in the 80's with a
'.dat' file attched to it, I was using a plain POP3 client - hello? What's
that?).
Alas, things have changed, I am watching a Steelers game on ESPN Gamecast,
(I have no TV), passing the grandchildrens' pics thru email and such.
BUT!! I prefer to send text mode and include URL's rather than the whole
file,
and on a list, especially one where some people have message size limits,
text mode is the way to go.
Be kind to the people that don't have broadband.....

the Dino

PS: A hacker in the olden days NEVER did anything malicious, just modified
the
operating system code on his own computer to his liking. Ahemmm....
Well, I did hack a lawyer's (a friend, believe it or not) office system
once, so when
he booted his computer his login screen had a picture of me saying 'hello'.
Just to prove a point how unsecure his system was, of course....;
