Arild,
I've been using round pizza stones for many years. The are available in KMart,
dollar store, etc, you sometimes find them by themselves, sometime in kits with
pie cutters and other tools. They are cheap - five to ten dollars and come in
different sizes.

They really even the heat out and will help the oven retain heat. It is
imperative to preheat the oven to bake or roast. The skin is always crispy and
the inside is thoughly cooked (helps to brine the bird for many hours prior to
cooking as it keeps the meat moist and sweet or savory-your choice).
Breads, biscuits and pizza turn out great with a serious golden crust on the
bottom.

Couldn't figure how to thoughly clean these stones until the admiral left one
in the oven during a self clean cycle (her land based kitchen)- came out clean
as new!
500 degrees for 3 hours!

Find one, try one, I think you will love the $10 investment.
