I also read (somewhere) that just the act of pulling on the nylon line, such as using if for anchor rode or dock line, causes internal heat from the fibers rubbing against each other (even when submerged), and will eventually cause a failure when enough strands separate from the heat. I guess that's a good enough reason to replace them from time to time, whether they need it or not. Sidney Colorado Springs
