We checked in at Bimini and if you can avoid going there I would suggest
that. If you can make Chub Cay, that is the place to go. Dock at the fuel
dock
in Chub and the govt. people will meet you at your boat and do everything.
There are also more likely to give you more time. Bimini is too unpredictable.
When we were there, we only received 30 days when we asked for 90. But the
boat behind us got 6 months, (powerboat). Plus, several others got varies
times
as well. You are truly at the mercy of the person that checks you in, and if
you interrupt her TV show, 30 days is all you will get. Another reason not
to go to Bimini, you have to leave your boat, one must stay on board at all
times until you have checked in. Plus, you have to catch the office open.
Although there are posted times, they do not go by them. We had to make several

attempts before we got our visa's.

If you just want to stay in Bimini, that is a different story. You get free
wifi from the big game resort. If you stay at Blue Water, they are cheap (15 a
night). Has for things to do, not much. When we were there they were
building on the far end of the island, but the locals were pretty upset about
it,
because they were only planning to hire as minimum number of locals as
necessary and bring everyone else in from USA.

Bimini isn't what it used to be either. When we were there last December, it
look very much like the slums of NY, nasty. The locals were very nice to us,
but you could tell they really could use the money.

Hope this helps.

Cheapest check-in would be Bimini, but it may be too far south for you? Just
head up to the government dock, no charge tie up, or anchor out and dinghy
in. FYI, the area shown on your chart as a seaplane landing area is no longer,
since the demise of Chalks. Good anchoring there, just try to stay clear of
the government dock as de mailboat lands there - right in front of Bluewater
Marina (I think that's the name) is good.
