The gentleman from Stecktronics is being a bit disingenuous, perhaps not deliberately. But I'd point out that quoting current draw without light output numbers for reference, has no bearing on efficiency.
The Luxeon LEDs are in fact quite efficient. They do require fairly signficant heat sinks, but their overall heat/light output is better than most std style LEDs. Those put out a bit of heat also, but since they are spread out on a board, rather than concentrated on one small chip, it's easier to dissipate the heat than the Luxeon Energy stars and their brethren. I can't say whether the Stecktronics lamp is more or less efficient than the OGM, but then, neither can Mr Steckkly using just the numbers provided in the letter. -- http://neon-buddha.net
