Thanks, Carl (and all others!!!!!!)

There weren't any messenger lines left in the pipe when she left the factory
(all electronics <radar, chartplotter, w/d/s instruments, autopilot, etc> were
factory installed>).

My yard manager said they've got something he calls a "Fox & Hound" which can
'trace' energized wires throughout the boat and I can borrow that unit. My take
is that while I'll be able to 'trace' the wiring behind bulkheads, etc.,
(sounds like it would work like x-ray vision from a si-fi story!) it wouldn't
necessarily tell me where it enters the conduit at the chart table end. And
that's the specific location I need.

Based on everyone's responses both here and on the HOW site, the consensus
seems to be that it's behind a bulkhead/panel beneath the chart table - about
where my knees would be sitting at that table. If that's the case then it looks
like I might have to unscrew that panel - assuming I can find them <g>!

  Hello to the group,

  Wiring trace Hunter SV

Assuming that the original writer has a digital wrist watch, and with any
luck a small portable am/fm radio.
Shut down the boat power totally. Place the watch next to one of the wires
that goes through the tube.
Use the portable radio on AM as a signal tracer you should hear the clicking
to perhaps a foot away from the area. as you move along.

  If not....
Second way.... You will be using one circuit. With the boat power shut down
use one wire that goes through the pipe to some device.. Remove the wire from
whatever device and ground it. energize the other end with a small circuit
breaker ...LIKE an old 4 bulb turn signal flasher....It will make/ break as the
circuit is grounded. Use a hand compass along the path that you
think...Dampened one would be nice but...in any case when the breaker is on the
compass will point in the direction of current flow...ergo the grounded end of
the wire.

I have done step two with a fish tape.
While you are there are you sure Hunter did not leave you a line to pass
additional wiring through the tube ? If not, I certainly would do so now.

  Good Luck, Carl Hibbard
