Yes but where they were it would be difficult if not almost impossible to have one on board where it could be used in time legally. And there are plenty of stories about being locked in dungeons when officials get an excuse there too, so I would not even want to consider having one otherwise. If he had had warning enough to grab a SS table leg or something before they got on board the whole thing may well have not happened.
