Hello All, I am about to construct an awning over my cockpit. This will provide shade in the summer and rain protection in the winter. Here is my question: Since I found very inexpensive turnbuckles in galvanized steel, and these will be attached to an aluminum 2 inch "channel" extending up from the toe rail. behind the pushpit rail (stainless steel), and then attached to the backstay via low-stretch rigging line (3/8 inch) I was wondering how long I might reasonably expect this set-up to last before it all comes crashing down on my head? Should I coat everything with Boeshield? Lanolin? Just monitor?
Any thoughts appreciated.
