I have recently tried the wax ring used to bed toilet bowls to the floor. This
was mentioned at a boat show by a engineer that makes self steering vanes. He
said he uses it on SS screws in aluminum with good results. I have not
disassembled anything yet so I can't say but this stuff is very sticky,
waterproof and does not drip when in the sun. Cheap too.
