Norm if you haven't stopped in the Sassafras River lately, Give it a try. The Kitty Knight is under new ownership with dancing on Saturday Nights and the dinghy docks have been improved at all the marinas. Moorings are not required in the anchorage. Wrighttack is on the east dock of Sailing Associates
Bill Wright S/V Wright Tack CSY 44 wo Lying Sassafras River, Maryland ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, August 19, 2010 9:34:28 AM Subject: Re: [Liveaboard] Halifax to Norfolk The weather is best in the Chesapeake from mid September to the end of October. We leave New England soon after Labor Day (the first weekend in September) and head for Cape May NJ (sometimes via Long Island Sound, sometimes directly from the Cape Cod Canal depending on the weather predictions), through the Cape May Canal and up the Delaware Bay, through the C&D Canal and into the Chesapeake. We start at Harve de Grace at the northern end of the Bay, visit Baltimore (the Fells Point area) then go to Annapolis for the Sailboat Show. Reedville is a favorite, Urbana too. We did visit Philadelphia once. One year we went up the Potomac River, visited George Washington's home and did the DC museums. DC is a mixed bag. The museums are wonderful but the general atmosphere is threatening. Jan had bad experiences with both cops (Apparently taking photos in DC is illegal. The cop wanted to steal her very expensive camera but eventually settled for deleting the photo of a statue with an office building in the background.) and belligerent blacks at the supermarket. We won't go back there. Norfolk is a favorite, we stay at least a week there. Then three day trips in the ICW to Moorhead City and offshore to Jacksonville for the winter. Norm S/V Bandersnatch Lying Gloucester MA We could go up into the Chesapeake for a while before turning south.
