I had no knowledge of the Icom unit.
We bought the first production models shipped to the US at the end of January
2010 that was made by Standard Horizon. It is Standard Horizon Matrix, GX2100.

We like it and have been using it's AIS output today, cruising from anchorage
on the Hudson on the Upper West Side of NYC, down the Hudson, thru NY Harbor
out under the Verizano Narrows thru the sea channel to Atlantic Highlands where
we will stage for a run down the NJ coast to Cape May next week.
