Norm Thanks for the warning. Sorry I missed you, you must have been here when I came in. We are not yet seeing a good window to run the Jersey coast. Lot of wind and rain overnight here. Still raining Fri am, but wind has dropped.

The shore is much closer to the big ship channel than the charts show. Ed and Sue grounded there a few weeks ago. When we left Sandy Hook for Cape May Tuesday night I had plotted my route to go just outside the south edge of the ship channel going around the north end of Sandy Hook. When we got there we were alarmed to find breakers close aboard our starboard bow yet the depth sounder still showing about 50 feet! We made an abrupt turn back inside the channel travelling just inside the green edge of the channel and stayed there until clear of the False Cape shoal. The weather here has been breezy 10-15 kt and dry all day. In the late afternoon the wind increased but still about 15-20 Kt. It's 2015 now and still no rain. We expect to continue to the Chesapeake Saturday morning.
