That reminds me of the most impressive fast safety device I have ever seen
demonstrated.

It was installed on a table saw.  If a finger touched the blade the device
drove an aluminum wedge between the blade and the table so fast the blade
stoped instantly and the finger was undamaged.

It was demonstrated by the inventor on TV some time ago.  He first used a
hot dog. Then after replacing the blade and the wedge, he tested it with
his fingertip on the teeth.  

It was a riveting demo.
